Health benefits

Insurance
Both you and ZS contribute to the premium for Social Health Insurance (SHI), also called Japan Health Insurance Association or 協会けんぽ (Kyoukaikenpo).
Annual medical checkup
ZS Japan provides an annual, mandatory medical checkup for eligible ZSers with ZS health insurance, plus optional add-ons such as endoscopy and cancer screenings.
Stress check
ZS offers an annual stress-check survey intended to raise your awareness of stress levels.
Long-term disability insurance
Capital Sompo covers 70% of ZS’s annual salary with a maximum of ¥1.5M per month in case of illness or injury that impairs your ability to work for an extended period.
Workers’ compensation insurance
Workers’ accident compensation insurance 労働者災害補償保険 (rōdōsha saigai hoshō hoken), is a government program that covers work- or commute-related injury, illness or death. ZS pays the premium in full.
Wellness tracking portal
Carely allows you to track your monthly overtime, stress levels and health checkup results.
Life insurance
ZS Japan has a Group Life Insurance policy through Asahi Mutual, which provides a paid benefit to designated beneficiaries in the event of death, of 3x your annual salary, up to a maximum of ¥100M.
Mental health support
ZS medical coverage includes access to mental health services. ZSers and their immediate families also have access to 24/7 emotional support through the Workplace Options Employee Assistance Program.
Flu shot
ZS reimburses out-of-pocket expenses for flu shots.
Injury and sick allowance
If you're unable to work for over 3 days due to illness or injury, Kyokai Kenpo (全国健康保険協会) may provide an Injury and Sickness Allowance (傷病手当金) equal to about ⅔ of your daily wage for up to 18 months.

Benefit
Unemployment insurance
Both you and ZS contribute to the premium for the koyou hoken benefit (雇用保険), known as shitsugyou hoken (失業保険), a safety net for those who have lost their job in Japan and are yet to find a new one.
Retirement savings
ZS Japan offers a Defined-Contribution Pension Plan with Sompo Japan DC Securities Inc. ZS contributes 5% of your monthly salary up to ¥27,500 monthly. You may make additional pretax contributions.
Corporate housing program
Relocation Japan rents apartments for ZSers and supports reviewing the contract, paying the security deposit, dealing with complaints and more.
Advanced degree tuition support
ZSers with at least 36 months of tenure at the start of the program can apply for sponsorship to graduate studies.
Charitable donation matching
ZS will match donations and volunteer time up to an annual maximum of ¥270,000 per calendar year.
National pension scheme
Japan's public pension system includes the National Pension (国民年金) and Employees' Pension Insurance (厚生年金保険). Enrollment in both is required for all ZS Japan employees, and ZS pays 50% of the premium.
Commuting expenses
ZS reimburses travel expenses between your home and the office up to ¥30,000 per month.
Work-life benefits

Vacation time
Full-time ZSers accrue 15 days of paid vacation each year starting on their hire date. Managers, senior-level hires, and ZSers with 36+ months of ZS tenure accrue 20 days annually.
Sick time
ZSers receive five days of sick leave per year.
Observed ZS holidays
ZS provides 19 paid holidays. Holidays falling on a Sunday shall be moved to the following Monday in accordance with Japanese law.
Bereavement leave
Bereavement time varies based on the relationship to the individual who passed.
Family and parental leave
ZS family leave program provides 10 weeks of paid time off for the birth or adoption of a child or the serious health condition of a family member.
Maternity leave
Birth mothers are entitled to fourteen weeks of maternity leave (22 weeks in the case of multiple pregnancies).
Childcare support
ZS provides a discount voucher for babysitting services to help balance work and childcare responsibilities. Each voucher offers a ¥2,200 discount, with the number available based on your family size.
Marriage leave
ZSers are entitled to seven days of paid time off to celebrate their nuptials or one day of paid time off to celebrate the marriage of their children.
Childcare leave
ZSers with a child under age one may be eligible for childcare leave. Eligible employees can receive unemployment insurance benefits of up to 67% of base pay, reduced to 50% after seven months.
Travel assistance
Our Travel Assistance Plan provides medical, security and logistical expertise to safeguard and support ZSers during business travel abroad.
