From day one to meaningful impact: Inside the New to ZS onboarding experience
Starting a new role comes with excitement, opportunity and a lot to take in. But with our onboarding program, New to ZS, we help employees feel supported, build connections and make a difference from day one.
For Mrunal Girigosavi, human resources associate in Pune, managing the orientation programs and bootcamps that bring together new joiners from diverse backgrounds has become one of the most rewarding parts of her role.
“What inspires me most is the opportunity to interact with fresh talent, exchange knowledge and create a welcoming environment where people feel connected from day one,” Mrunal says.

Helping new ZSers translate experience into impact
According to Mrunal, one of the biggest adjustments for many new ZSers is understanding how their skills and experiences translate into a professional consulting and tech environment. Beyond introducing new employees to ZS, the program enables them to understand workplace expectations, explore opportunities for professional growth and see how teams come together to solve complex business challenges.
“What I really appreciate about New to ZS is how thoughtfully it helps new joiners connect their past experiences to the realities of consulting and technology work,” she says.
Building client readiness through hands-on learning
The program combines structured learning with interactive workshops and opportunities to learn directly from experienced ZSers. Sessions focused on communication, consulting, storytelling, gen AI and problem solving provide participants with insight on turning ideas into real-world client impact.
One example that stands out most to Mrunal is the case study presentations completed during the bootcamp portion of the program.
“These presentations play an important role in helping participants build client readiness early on,” she says. “They give participants an opportunity to think critically, present ideas and experience what professional collaboration and communication can look like in a real corporate setting.”
Making space for belonging
Learning is only one part of it. The program also creates space for new ZSers to establish relationships across teams, practices and backgrounds. Icebreakers, group discussions and team-based activities allow participants to get to know one another in a natural and welcoming environment.
“It may seem like a small activity, but it helps break the ice quickly and creates a sense of comfort and belonging within the room,” Mrunal shares.

For Mrunal, some of the most meaningful moments come through participant feedback. One ZSer described the bootcamp portion as a transformational experience that brought the sessions together in a way that felt both engaging and practical.
“Feedback like this reinforces the impact of the program for me,” she says. “Because it shows that beyond onboarding, we are helping people feel more prepared for the kind of work and experiences they will have at ZS.”
What excites Mrunal most is seeing how participants evolve throughout the program.
“The journey becomes more than just learning,” she says. “It’s a space where people exchange ideas, build relationships and grow together while preparing for the next step in their careers.”
A foundation for confidence, connection and impact
Through New to ZS, onboarding is more than an introduction to the organization. It’s the foundation for new ZSers to grow confidence, form meaningful connections and make an impact from the very start of their journey at ZS.
