Celebrating excellence: Sharon Suchotliff honored with HBA Luminary Award
ZS is thrilled to announce that Sharon Suchotliff has received a 2024 Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Luminary Award. This prestigious honor recognizes Sharon’s leadership in advancing patient centricity in healthcare and her commitment to helping women achieve their career goals. With this award, she joins a global network of accomplished professionals driving meaningful change in both healthcare and the workplace. When it comes to visionary leaders at ZS, Sharon shines.
Where passion changes lives
At ZS, Sharon applies her deep global experience—both within and beyond healthcare—to help pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech companies center their strategies around the patient. Her work includes developing and implementing tools like ZS’s Patient Outcomes Impact (POI™) metrics, which promote patient-informed decision-making and improve health outcomes.
Sharon brings energy and insight to ZS’s patient centricity efforts and helps shape strategies that move the healthcare industry forward. With a mindset open to possibility, she excels at [translating innovative ideas into action] and helps the industry shift its approach to achieve better outcomes and reduce costs.
This commitment to meaningful impact led her to co-author the book “Reinventing Patient Centricity: Bringing Patient-led Business Models to Life” with ZS Principal Hensley Evans. Together with the companion Patient Centricity podcast, the book challenges the life sciences industry to rethink how it engages with patients.
“Sharon and I have worked together for more than a decade, and I can’t think of anyone else I’d rather co-author a book with,” Hensley says. “She brings deep intellectual curiosity to everything she does—always asking ‘why’ and ‘how’—and she’s never afraid to roll up her sleeves. We came out of this experience as even closer friends, which speaks to what a great collaborator she is.”
Sharon is energized by ZS’s entrepreneurial culture and commitment to supporting employees’ ambitions inside and outside the firm. “At ZS, we see patients as people and consider their full experience,” Sharon says. “We also empower our people to give back, contributing time and expertise to causes they care about.”
Through Women@ZS, one of the firm’s employee-led inclusion and belonging groups, Sharon has helped underserved women through partnerships with organizations like Working for Women (W4W) and New Women New Yorkers (NWNY). Piloted in ZS’s New York office in 2019, the W4W initiative is now a multioffice program supporting hundreds of women each year.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharon helped launch Health Equity is Women’s Equity—a global panel series exploring urgent topics in women’s health. The inaugural event addressed the pandemic’s disproportionate effects on marginalized communities. Since then, the series has sparked critical conversations about issues such as period poverty, menopause in the workplace and the mental health needs of women.
Sharon is honored to be named an HBA Luminary and credits several ZS mentors for supporting her journey. As a mother of two young children, she’s grateful to ZS for the freedom and tools to shape her career and family life. “ZS has given me the support to make a real impact,” she says.
Congratulations, Sharon!
