John co-leads the ZS discovery service line, focusing on drug discovery and translational medicine. In his current role, he defines the analytics and cognitive solutions that ZS offers to pharmaceutical, biopharma, medical device and biotech clients. His main focus is helping clients digitally transform their research activities to create breakthrough science, accelerate drug discovery and improve the probability of success. John leads teams that develop cognitive, AI and advanced analytics solutions for in silico science and drug discovery. In addition, he works with clients to develop platforms and solutions for omics research, biomarker discovery and validation, target identification and candidate optimization. John uses applications of patient similarity analytics for precision medicine, population and outcomes studies and predictive analytics in molecular biology and genomics.
John’s expertise includes strategy and transformation, advanced analytics and enterprise information management solutions for clients in the life sciences industry and developing transformative solutions using cognitive computing and machine learning. John has developed strategies that align predictive analytics capabilities with corporate business objectives and supervised large enterprise information management programs for clients in the life sciences industry. John specializes in engagements that begin with pragmatic strategy and proceed to rapid, fixed-time implementation programs that follow through to actually deliver measurable results on high priority enterprise objectives.
Prior to this role, John led the life sciences product portfolio at IBM Watson Health, and he was a partner in IBM’s consulting division where he led the analytics practice for the life sciences industry and Watson services for the distribution sector. As a consultant, he has advised clients on innovative capabilities that have enabled strategic shifts into new markets with new capabilities. As a corporate executive, he has delivered accelerated revenue and profit growth through strategic technology programs. In addition to working with pharmaceutical companies, John has developed analytics strategies and solutions for agricultural and animal health clients. For over 20 years, John has specialized on fixed price, fixed time, strategic application development, large database and other solutions. In addition, he has served as the CIO for a Fortune 100 company and worked in the publishing industry.
John holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, attended medical school at Saint George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and studied in the computer science master’s program at the Moore School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.
