Why ZS?

I joined ZS because I was looking for something that would allow me to build a depth of expertise while still exposing me to a variety of projects. ZS fit the bill as it offered me the opportunity to really focus on marketing as a practice area of expertise, while allowing me to have projects across many different types of clients, therapy areas and product brands. Additionally, I was looking for the kind of consulting job that had a working life that fit my lifestyle – I knew that ZS did not follow the traditional consulting model where everyone flies out Monday morning to the client site only to return on Thursday night. ZS’s “on-site on demand” approach to working means that I work out of the office most days and visit the client only as needed and only for key meetings. This approach allows me to have the work-life balance that fits my lifestyle.

My Favorite Project

My favorite project was to test sales aids for a new product launching in the field of osteoporosis. This was an exciting project because it was the first time I had the opportunity to work with a team outside my office (at the time that was the Toronto office) – and the LA team did not disappoint. We spent several days together at the research facility interviewing physicians to get their reactions to the sales aids. We then collaborated as a cross-office team to prepare the results and deliver them in a timely manner to the client. The client found great value in this project as it allowed them to get their customers’ raw reactions to their product and sales aid right before the launch of the brand.

My After-Hours Engagement/Activities

I am the kind of person that is constantly looking for new activities to try out after work – usually something active or outdoorsy. Almost every year I try a new activity. Over the years since joining ZS, I have taken kayaking lessons, spinning classes, ballroom dance and volunteered to read books on tape for the blind.

ZS in One Word

The one word I would use to describe ZS is “dedicated.” The people at ZS are extremely dedicated to providing the best solution for their clients, to building and fostering their teams, and to helping one another develop innovations and grow practice areas. I can’t count the number of times people have stopped what they were doing, despite deadlines of their own, to help me solve a problem or answer a question. The dedication to their work and each other is apparent in everything ZSers do.

My Advice for Potential ZSers

Think about the skills that you want to build and then evaluate whether or not the type of work ZS does lines up against these skills. Alignment of your needs and the company’s offering is key to ensuring that working together is mutually beneficial.
